After a decade travelling the world, the International Academy of Indian Film (IIFA) has celebrated its upcoming Oscars from the emerald island for the 11th edition in Sri lanka.After Bangkok in 2008 and Macao in 2009,it was in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, which has the honor to organize the event, before the cameras of some 400 journalists who had traveled from India, China, South Africa or Russia.Sri Lanka is an island country in South Asia, located about 31 kilometres (19.3 mi) off the southern coast of India.The country is famous for the production and export of tea, coffee, coconuts, rubber and cinnamon - which is native to the country. The natural beauty of Sri Lanka's tropical forests, beaches and landscape, as well as its rich cultural heritage, makes it a world famous tourist destination.It has also been a center of the Buddhist religion and culture from ancient times and is one of the few remaining abodes of Buddhism in South Asia, , as well as being a bastion of Hinduism.

The Sinhalese community forms the majority of the population; Tamils, who are concentrated in the north and east of the island, form the largest ethnic minority. Other communities include Moors, Burghers, Kaffirs, Malays and the indigenous Vedda people.The island also boasts the first female Prime Minister in the modern world, Sirimavo Bandaranaike.His economic capital, Colombo is a busy metropolis offering a wide range of attractions and activities to various visitors. Also, from the British colonial architecture to the Netherlands and Portugal forts, the island concentrates in itself a unique world history!Sri Lankan authorities hosted the ceremony on 3 to 5 June 2010.Every year, this International Indian film week-end will be an opportunity to make indian cinema shine through many major events such as the World Forum of Indian cinema, fashion show of the IIFAfoundation. a cricket match between Indian stars, ..The final event is the Oscars of Indian film, the biggest media event in Southeast Asia, and one of the most watched television programs worldwide!it is something less known in the west but is an equally impressive festival, which fascinates South Asia every year. We must say that the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA awards) are in Bollywood what Cannes is to the international cinema.Although a few of Bollywood's most popular stars were not present, during this year's IIFA Awards in Colombo, Sri Lanka,but most of them did show up and lit up the green carpet.The Bollywood beauties in gowns and our heroes in Black were gorgeous on the green carpet.But there were some leading ladies who chose to wear saree for the festival. He is known for his different style and his ability to envision a 'look' for the character. He is most probably known for designing the costumes for Urmila Matondkar in the film Rangeela. Stars including Kajol, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherji, Aishwarya Rai, and Preity Zinta have all worn his designs..You have also designer Anamika Khanna.It is the blend of ethnic and western in her collection that has appealed to the fashion conscious all over the world and bought her clients from Spain, UK, USA, Japan, Thailand, The Middle East etc..You have also other India's leading and most successful fashion designer such as Ravi bajaj,Malini ramani,Neeta Lulla ....1.With her glowing tanned skin,Bipasha Basu was looking really beautiful with a bright orange saree and hot fuchsia pink halter neck blouse with matching jewellry and a big red bindi.2.Neha Dhupia was wearing an exquisite black saree with a black blouse covered with golden chains all over and a bold chain belt.3.Kareena kapoor made a surprise entry at the green carpet wearing a colourful green saree and red blouse designed by Manish Malhotra.4.
